Weather and Safety Policy
Saturday weather calls for hot and humid conditions with scattered thunderstorms.
You should not enter or attempt to run in this race unless you are properly trained
for hot and humid conditions. In the event of extreme weather conditions, the race
organizers, as advised by the Arlington County Police and Fire/EMS Departments, reserve
the right to cancel the race or run it as an untimed "Fun Run" without advance notice.
If this should be necessary:
- Runners will receive shirts and packets.
- Festival activities will be held.
- Random prizes will be announced.
- Winners' cash will be converted to random prizes.
- No entry-fee refunds will be made.
The final decision regarding the conduct of the race will be made between
7:30pm and 8:00pm Saturday night and will be announced over the race public
address system.
Course
This USATF-certified course (VA08022RT) runs through vibrant Crystal City and on the grounds of the Pentagon. A course map is available here.
Timing
This event will utilize chip timing. You must use the chip assigned to you and place it on your shoe. No chip = no time. Unreturned chips will results in a $20 fee to runner.
Awards
$150/$100/$50 M/F overall; merchandise prizes three deep in ten year age groups (0-10; 11-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+)
Transportation
METRO: Crystal City station (yellow/blue line); take 18th street exit; head towards Crystal Drive and turn right; start line at 20th street
PARKING: Ample complimentary parking is available in several garages near the start/finish line. On street parking is also available. A map of available garages is available here. On street parking is also available throughout Crystal City. Do not park on Crystal Drive north of 23rd Street or anywhere on the route; your car will be ticketed and/or towed.
Registration & Packet Pick Up
For your convenience, we will have registration and packet pick up rotating among all four Pacers Running Stores locations. Following is the schedule:
Tuesday, July 22: Pacers of Silver Spring (8535 Fenton Street) 12pm-8pm (note noon start)
Wednesday, July 23: Pacers of Fairfax (10427 North Street) 12pm-8pm (note noon start)
Thursday, July 24: Pacers of Alexandria (1301 King Street) 10am-8pm
Friday, July 25: Pacers of Arlington (3100 Clarendon Boulevard) 10am-8pm
Saturday, July 26: Please note the split location schedule
10am-2pm: Pacers of Arlington (3100 Clarendon Boulevard)
Onsite: 6:30pm-7:45pm: Start line at Crystal Drive and 20th Street (please arrive early if you plan on picking up/registering onsite; note: we only accept checks and cash for race day onsite registrations.)
Special note about online registration: If you register online on or between July 21-24 your packet will not be available until Friday, July 25. Any online registrations processed on or before July 21 will be ready for pick up starting July 22. Walk up registrations on July 22-27 will be processed onsite.

Participants will receive a Saucony technical race t-shirt as part of their registration. Please note that due to availability, men’s sizes large and extra large will not be available until after the event. Participants requesting size large or extra large may have the shirts mailed to the address provided with their registration or pick up at Pacers Arlington (pick up/delivery option selected during registration process). Please allow four weeks. Shirts will be mailed by our screening and fulfillment partner, SureShip.
Post Race Party!
Join us for our post race party with great fare and entertainment from 8:00pm-10:00pm. Identification is required to consume alcohol and individuals must be 21 or over.
Friends and family are welcome to join us at the post-race event.
The award ceremony will commence at approximately 9:15pm. Make plans to stay in Crystal City after the race! Check back for details on runner discounts and deals at local Crystal City establishments and restaurants.
Post Race Showers
Freshen up after the race! Showers are available from 8:00pm-10:00pm courtesy of Sport & Health at the following Sport & Health locations:
- Crystal Drive Sport & Health (2231 Crystal Drive; located near finish area)
- Crystal Gateway Sport & Health (1235 S. Clark Street; a few blocks from finish area)
Sport & Health will offer showers, towel service, and amenities (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair dryers, iron and ironing boards, shaving cream, and lotion).
All you need is a change of clothes and your bib number! Visit www.sportandhealth.com for information on their clubs.

This event will benefit the charity training programs of Pacers Running Stores’ partner charity organizations, including: Team in Training, American Cancer Society, Team Unforgettable, Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk, OAR/DC Fit, and Team Pancreatica.
Frequently Asked Questions:
May I pick up a packet for friends or family? Yes, you may pick up a packet for someone else. Please just alert them that you will be picking up their packet. You, however, will be the only one eligible to participate in our pre-race packet pick up raffle. Hey, you did all the work.
May I register during packet pick up? Yes, you can. We accept check, cash, and credit card. If you register onsite on race day, we can only accept cash and checks.
May I wear headphones during the run? Runners wearing headphones are responsible for knowing their surroundings and being courteous to others around them. The official policy of USATF is "no", however, we will not be enforcing the policy.
May I run with a stroller? Runners with strollers are responsible for maintaining control of their stroller and must be considerate of others around them. Please start in the back. Again, the official policy of USATF is "no", however, we will not be enforcing the policy.
May I run with my dog? Pets are not allowed in the 5K but gentle ones are welcome to watch.
Will there be a water stop? Potomac Runners will host a water stop on course.
What is your refund policy? Unfortunately, there are no refunds for this event. We also do not accept transfers or deferments.
Is there a baggage drop? Yes, a baggage drop will be open 6:30pm to 9:30pm and will be manned by volunteers. The event is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please pick up your items by 9:30pm. Any items left after 9:30pm will be transferred to Pacers of Arlington and will be available for pick up Sunday, July 27. Any items not claimed two weeks after the event will be donated to charity or discarded.
Is there a team competition? There is no team competition this year.
Is there a time cutoff for the event? You must be able to finish the 5K course in one hour.
